Alice Mar, MD
Dr. Alice Mar was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She received her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology from University of Richmond and went on to earn her medical degree from Georgetown University. She completed her pediatric residency at The University of Virginia in 2000. She has been a practicing private pediatrician in Northern Virginia since that time and is excited to join Pediatric Associates of Alexandria in 2025.
Dr. Mar is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is an Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics with George Washington School of Medicine and enjoys teaching medical students and residents.
The aspect of pediatrics that Dr. Mar loves most is partnering with parents in taking care of kids from the newborn stage through their young adult years. She also has a special interest in developmental and behavioral pediatrics as well as mental health. She has done additional training through the REACH Institute in screening and caring for anxiety, depression and ADHD. Dr. Mar has also complete training in autism diagnosis and management and is certified a STAT provider to do autism evaluations in high risk preschoolers.
Dr. Mar homeschooled her three children up to high school and has an interest in education and children's literature. She also is an avid reader herself and does a crossword puzzle every day. She also loves spending time outdoors and traveling with her family.
